Dear GMYAA Families,

We hope this letter finds you well and filled with excitement for the upcoming fall football season. We are thrilled to announce that after a successful inaugural season, the board of GMYAA has taken the time to assess what went well and what areas need improvement. We are committed to making this upcoming season even better for our young athletes and their families.

As part of our assessment, we have decided to make some changes to our age groups to better align with the needs of our players and ensure fair competition. Beginning this fall season, our age groups will be structured as follows:

·      Rookie Age Group: 1st and 2nd grade (Kids cannot be 9 years old on August 1, 2024)

·      JV Age Group: 3rd and 4th grade (Kids cannot be 11 years old on August 1, 2024)

·      Varsity Age Group: 5th and 6th grade (Kids cannot be 13 years old on August 1, 2024)

·      Flag 7u (Kids cannot be 8 years old on August 1, 2024)

·      Flag 9u (Kids cannot be 10 years old on August 1, 2024)

·      Girls Flag 9u (Kids cannot be 10 years old on August 1, 2024)

·      Girls Flag 12u (Kids cannot be 13 years old on August 1, 2024)

Additionally, we have made the decision that 7th graders will no longer be eligible to play in our league.

In an effort to promote fairness and safety, we will be implementing changes to our weigh-in process for tackle football players. All players will be required to weigh in, regardless of size, prior to the jamboree. Players who do not weigh in before the jamboree will not be eligible to participate in the jamboree.

Furthermore, we are proud to announce that all associations within our league will be moving to a common background check process. This decision has been made to further ensure the safety and well-being of all our young athletes.

We believe that these changes will contribute to a more organized, fair, and safe environment for our players to thrive in. We are excited to see the growth and development of our athletes as they continue to pursue their passion for football and cheerleading.
